There are the following ways to install Worksheet Crafter.
Installation on a Server (recommended)
The Server installation is the most usual way to use Worksheet Crafter in schools.
You install the Worksheet Crafter on a server. The individual clients start the application directly via a network drive. That means the server provides the installed Worksheet Crafter in the network.
This way you avoid multiple installations and updates. There are several options to configure via admin.ini.
For this the application directory of Worksheet Crafter needs to contain a configuration file named admin.ini. This file allows you to provide several configuration options. For the server installation you need to define the following:
1.The login method for Worksheet Crafter.
2.Optionally the directory for asset packages and templates.
You find all the details about the configuration file in the chapter "Configuration via ADMIN.INI".
Manual Client Installations
Automated Software Distribution via Quiet Installation
By default the Worksheet Crafter installation requires the selection of the login method and accepting the software license. On Windows systems it is possible to run the installation without user input. Even the graphic user interface may be suppressed.
This is helpful when your school uses a system for automated software distribution. This way you can install the Worksheet Crafter fully automatic. The quiet installation technically works via command line parameters. You pass all relevant settings via command line.
Detailed information about available command line parameters and return values can be found in the chapter "Command Line Parameters for Installation File".
Installation in Citrix Environment
For Citrix environments you may follow the step for a server installation.
Installation via IServ school server
If you are using the school server software IServ you may use a preconfigured installation package for IServ. The IServ school server is an IT solution for schools that among other things allows automated distribution of software on school computers.
The IServ company provides those packages for Worksheet Crafter installation. We do not provide those packages. You find them directly at IServ. Which package is the correct one depends on the license model of the school:
1.For a school with the new license model use the package with version number 1.0-1.0. No additional license data needs to be provides. Each teacher logs in to Worksheet Crafter on startup with their personal license data.
2.For the old school license version number 1.0-2.0 is the correct choice. Here the license data is identical for all teachers. In this case you set up the license data that we provided for the school in the package.
The package itself contains no installation files. You need to specify the Worksheet Crafter installation file. Simply use the standard installation file we provided after the purchase.
After setting this up Worksheet Crafter may be distibuted fully automatic on all school computers. For all questions regarding IServ or the automated installation of Worksheet Crafter via IServ please use the IServ GmbH support.
Installation as OPSI package (paedML)
paedML is a solution for school networks used in several schools. paedML allows to easily install and distribute the software on the school computers. The installation is done via OPSI packages.
The state media center Baden-Wuerttemberg kindly created an OPSI package for Worksheet Crafter. If your school uses paedML you may use this OPSI package to distribute the Worksheet Crafter.
